WHO IS VISTA TRAILS?

Vista Trails has bases in the UK and Montenegro so you can be sure to experience an efficient service that you can rely on.

UK Office – Our UK Office ensures the financial protection of your holiday payment. Vista Trails is the trading name of Country Ventures Ltd a registered company in the UK.

Montenegro Base – Hugh Chapman is an excellent host with a terrific sense of humour. Originally from the UK he has had a varied career spanning agriculture and tourism, particularly anything connected with outdoor life. For 10 years he lived and worked in Kenya organizing wilderness camping and introducing visitors to not only the game parks and wildlife but to the very essence of Africa. He is well known for his support of conservation and rural sustainable development and has left behind many lifelong friends in Africa.Hugh has had connections with Montenegro and the Balkan countries for over six years and now lives and works in a beautiful setting beside the Adriatic. As a keen walker and great host he can make your trip into far more than just a walking holiday. His contacts and friends in ME mean that you will get behind the brochure and have a truly memorable experience.

 

WALKS

I am new to walking is it suitable for me?

Yes as long as you have average fitness we can tailor a week of walks to suit your ability.

I am very fit and a seasoned walker will I be held back by others in my party?

No we do an assessment of every participant on our holidays and will arrange routes and a guide or if self guided back up support to give you a fulfilling holiday.

What about traffic?

None of the trails use busy roads they are all off road or on small lanes.

Do you have space for drying/washing kit?

At Villa Mandolina there is a fully equipped laundry with washing machine, drying racks etc.

Are any of your walks dangerous?

All walking across country holds a small element of risk from slipping, the weather, wildlife etc. The routes are chosen for there accessibility and we give you clear route details prior to the start.

I am on a walk and don’t want to complete it what happens?

If you are injured the support team will be dispatched to help you if not you will be asked to make your way to the nearest road if vehicle access is not possible.

WEATHER

Will it be hot/wet windy?

Spring and Autumn are changeable but it is never really cold. July & August are very hot and it is advisable to only walk in Durmitor.

Does it ever rain?

Yes! The weather is mild to hot all year round. We do have rainy days but rarely so we cannot get out and about.

LOCAL INFO

What language is spoken in ME?

Montenegrin is the official language which is an offshoot of Serbian. You will find lots of people speak some English and it is easy to make yourself understood.

Are the locals friendly?

Yes very. They are finding it exciting to have so many new nationalities visiting their country and you will find them very open and welcoming.

What is the currency?

The Euro but you will find lots of things much cheaper than in the rest of Europe.

How about shops and bank opening hours?

Most shops open at 8 or 9am and close around the same time at night. Some may close for 2 or 3 hours in the afternoon. Cafes are open all day and some all night ! Banks open at 8.30 to 3 or 4pm. Most petrol stations are 24hrs.

Can I change sterling locally?

A couple of the banks in the local town offer much better rates than say at the airport. ATM’s are everywhere on the coast and less widespread in the mountains.

Can I use my Card?

Yes but not in every place. Smaller café’s are cash only.

What about tipping?

Just round up or leave a couple of Euro for a café meal or a bit more for a restaurant.

Is the beach near?

A great beach is 15 mins from Tivat.

What is the food like?

Local food is good with main choices of pasta, pizza, grilled meat & fish and you can try the local specialities of cured ham and strong cheese.

TRANSPORT & COMMUNICATION

I want to go out at night what about transport?

Taxi’s are cheap and available everywhere.

Can I use my mobile phone?

Not all networks work so check with your provider or bring an unlocked phone and buy a local chip – 5 Euro including 5 Euro of credit. Mobile phone coverage is total!

We provide you with a sim card or mobile for phone for emergency contact.

LUSTICA VILLAS – Single Centre Coastal

Can I use all the facilities at the Villa?

Yes but the pool opens end of April depending on weather.

Will I have my own room in the Villa?

Yes single rooms are available.

What about towels?

Everything you need is provided except beach towels.

Do you have sun loungers?

Yes.

FOOD AT LUSTICA VILLAS

What happens if I don’t like the food?

Meals are of a high standard, good basic ingredients well cooked. If you have a list of absolute hates please let us know when you book and we will do our best to provide an alternative dish.

I am a vegetarian can you provide my meals?

Yes but it helps if you give us some idea of what you like to eat.

Can I drink as much as I like?

Beer and wine are available with your meal

Can I bring in my own food to the Villa?

Snack type food such as crisps / peanuts etc but not things like takeaway pizza.

How about drinks?

You have your own beverage bar fully equipped and you are welcome to bring whatever drink is your preference. There is a fridge and small kitchen in this area so you can make your own tea and coffee as well.

WHERE ARE WE?

Montenegro is next to Croatia and opposite the heel of Italy. A beautiful country with mountains to the sea, historic walled towns, excellent café’s & bars it has it all.
